ALL BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS OF FUNKY ASS MUSICIANS & DJS
BY WILLIAM BENRUBI
A FUNKY EXHIBITION
BROOKLYN BREWERY & SPECIAL BREED ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE:
London, England – Special Breed & Brooklyn Brewery are very pleased to present:
A Funky Exhibition
A two day solo exhibition of photographs featuring legendary funk musicians and DJ’s, by photojournalist William Benrubi, to be hosted at the 5th Base Gallery in Shoreditch, on Wednesday December 9th & Thursday the 10th.
From the 1950’s through the 1990’s, before the time of the DSLR and the HD smartphone camera, there was a golden era of film photography covering music’s greats. Epic moments of musicians in their element were captured through film, representing and preserving the time period. Many have said film photography has become a dying art form, however William Benrubi has curated an exhibition of his own black and white film works of legendary musicians and DJ’s, reminding people just how amazing the analogue art form is, and has been.
'A Funky Exhibition' pays homage to all the great funk music that has been produced over the decades, along with the photography that has the surrounded it.
The show will feature all original works of new and classic funk artists from 2015, including:
CHIC feat. Nile Rogers, Gilles Peterson, GRiZ + All Good Records, Soul Clap, Skream, Lee Foss + more.
About William Benrubi: Born and raised in the New York City area, Will has worked as a photojournalist and correspondent for media outlets Magnetic Magazine, EDM Magazine, and Casulin.com.
